An age calculator computes the exact gap between two dates. The most common use is to find your current age from your date of birth, but you can also project age at a future date, useful for filling forms, calculating eligibility for schemes, or planning for retirement.
How the calculation works
The calculator subtracts your date of birth from the as of date, breaking the difference down into completed years, completed months, and remaining days. It then converts the same gap into total months, total days, total hours, and total minutes for quick reference.
Where age in years matters in India
Income tax slabs change at age 60 (senior citizen) and 80 (very senior citizen). Eligibility for the Senior Citizen Savings Scheme begins at 60. NPS allows withdrawals from age 60 with extension up to 75. Many small savings schemes for minors like Sukanya Samriddhi require the daughter to be below 10. An accurate age calculator helps you plan around these thresholds.
Worked example
If you were born on 15 June 1995 and the calculation date is 1 January 2026, your age is 30 years 6 months 17 days. Your birthday will land 165 days from the calculation date, which is useful for planning birthday related events well in advance.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The calculation uses real calendar dates, so leap years are handled automatically when computing months, days, and total days.
